1492: The Stranger is a window display in Des Lee gallery in St. Louis. It explores themes of perception and domesticity using pots and clay sculptures as symbols to engage with ideas of memory and territory. This work focuses on domestic themes tied to my identity as a Venezuelan woman. Using found materials, motion, and stereotypical symbols of the tropical imaginary, I construct a display of consumerism that serves as a lens to examine the social norms imposed on women from the Global South
